One Dead After Catoosa Accident

A crash near Catoosa killed a Shawnee woman and injured a man from Inola on Saturday.  The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 26-year-old Stephanie Howe and 31-year-old Denny Bowman crashed while attempting to get on I-44 from 193rd East Avenue.

Witnesses tell police that the couple was speeding, then lost control, and flipped the car.  Howe and Bowman were both ejected.  Howe died at the scene.  Life-flight flew Bowman to an area hospital, but he was later released.

"Alcohol was a factor.  We did find an open container in the car and we did smell alcohol, on one of the occupants, on his breath," said Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Shannon Glover.

The highway patrol says they are still investigating who was driving the vehicle.
