OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The number of acres of wheat harvested in Oklahoma this year may be the second-lowest in the past 90 years.

The US Department of Agriculture is estimating that 3.1-million acres of wheat will be harvested this year.

That would tie with 1933 and 1917 for the second-fewest acres harvested in the past nine decades. And the 3.1-million acres harvested in 1917 set the record for the "most" acres harvested at the time.

The worst year was 1955 when 3-million acres were harvested.

The average for the past ten years is 4.5-million acres per year and the record for most acres harvested is 6.9-million in 1982.
