More Springlike Temps Today

Let's double check that calendar today!  The book says "February" but the pattern suggests early spring with highs today in the lower 70s.  Some locations southwest of Tulsa may hit the mid-70s and north Texas could be pushing the lower 80s by tomorrow afternoon.  We'll have another cold front moving across the state tomorrow midday bringing cooler air back to the state Thursday afternoon into Friday.  No precipitation is expected with the Thursday system.  

The weekend appears in decent shape but the winds will be increasing by Saturday afternoon and into Sunday with south winds at 15 to 25 mph Saturday and winds from 20 to 30 mph Sunday afternoon.  Another front will cross the area sometime either Sunday evening or Monday morning bringing another weak cool down into the northern part of the state with highs Monday and Tuesday back into the upper 40s or lower 50s.  The EURO is suggesting some light precipitation possibilities and we have included a slight chance of showers for the Sunday night time period through Tuesday.   The thermal profile may support some wintry precipitation during this early week period  but we'll keep any precipitation mentions in the "all liquid" category at this point in the forecast cycle.

The only issue I can find with today and tomorrow will be a slight increase in the fire danger.  Despite the recent rainfall, gusty southwest winds today and strong northwest winds tomorrow will help to spread any wild fires.  If the relative humidity drops below the 20% range tomorrow afternoon, Red Flag Warning criteria may be met.  Stay tuned for updates.
