The City of Broken Arrow has announced the voluntary water conservation will end at 8 a.m. Wednesday, August 27.

A high concentration of green algae in the City's primary water supply, the Verdigris River - and increased demand in the August heat - forced the city to ask residents and business owners to conserve their water for a few days.

City workers used that time to clean the membrane filters at the city's new water treatment plant, according to Director of Communications Krista Flasch, City of Broken Arrow.

"Staff has completed the initial cleaning of the membrane filters and will begin gradually increasing production of treated water," Flasch said Tuesday evening.
