Dramatic video shows a car driving on three tires and ramming a Muskogee police officer's car, twice.

The suspect, 32-year old Kyle Ford, is in jail on complaints of DUI, running from police and assault with a deadly weapon.

Police said it happened Monday when a patrol officer tried to pull Ford over.

Video shows smoke billowing and sparks flying from the three-wheeled truck as Ford rammed into Muskogee patrol officer Gage Forman's car. Dashcam footage shows Ford doing it not once, but twice.

The officer’s body cam shows how he had to get out of the way both times.

"For a car to be hit twice by the same person, same car, in one pursuit when that vehicle is also missing a wheel, it shows and intent to us," said Muskogee Officer Lincoln Anderson.

The high-speed chase started when Forman said he spotted Ford coming towards him with no headlights; at that point Ford had all his tires.

When the officer turned around to pull the suspect over, he said the driver took off.

Ford lost the tire when he ran into a ditch, but the video shows, even with sparks flying, he kept going before he, eventually, pulled over.

When Forman got out, the suspect's tires squeal, he backs up, hits the patrol car and takes off again, with the officer close behind.

Anderson said, "So, this is one of these situations that could have turned out drastically different than it did. And it took a lot of restraint on that officer’s part to not end up using any other kind of force than what was necessary."

By the time the suspect hit the officer’s car the second time, the officer had called for backup and they closed in on the Ford.

The video shows him drive into a field where his truck got stuck on a railroad track; that's when he finally gave up.

Police said if the officer had been standing three feet closer to his car or standing in the door, he could have legally used deadly force against the suspect.

The officer wasn't hurt.
