Sapulpa Names New City Manager
SAPULPA, Oklahoma - The Sapulpa City Council has selected a new city manager. During its meeting Monday, the city council named Enid's assistant city manager Joan Riley to post.
Sapulpa mayor says Riley's first day on the job is May 16.
“With 16 years of public service experience, Joan will complement our remarkable team of dedicated city employees,” said Sapulpa Mayor Reg Green.
“My colleagues on City Council and I look forward to her leadership as she works with the Council and the entire City organization to continue to make Sapulpa a great place to live, work, and play.”
Riley was chosen after a search that yielded dozens of applicants, with the top five finalists being interviewed by City Council.
“I am absolutely delighted and honored to be selected as the next City Manager of Sapulpa,” said Joan Riley.
“Sapulpa is a great community that possesses excellent economic development opportunities. The downtown area is a community jewel that should enable us to pursue new development as opportunities arise. The staff is highly experienced and willing to serve our City and I am really looking forward to serving the citizens of Sapulpa.”
In a news release, Riley began her career in Enid city government in 2000 as a staff accountant and held the positions of Treasury and Budget Manager and Interim Director of Finance before taking her current position as Assistant City Manager in 2010.
Sapulpa Police Chief Rick Rumsey has been serving as Interim City Manager since October of last year.
