The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says an eight-year-old girl was taken to the hospital after an SUV crash on Interstate-44 in west Tulsa late Friday.
Troopers said the crash happened just before 10 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the highway near 33rd West Avenue. They said the 17-year-old male driver apparently fell asleep and crashed, destroying about 70 feet of guardrail when the SUV left the road.
The OHP says the eight-year-old's injuries were not serious. They say an 11-year-old girl was also a passenger in the SUV. She wasn't injured.
Troopers said they cited the driver for inattentive driving.
