Muskogee Police Standoff In Trailer Park Ends With Suspect Dead

One man is dead after a standoff with police in a Muskogee trailer park on around 4 p.m. July 3rd.

The standoff happened at Riverside Mobile Home Park in Muskogee when police tried serving a search warrant, for child sexual assault, to the suspect, police said.

When trying to serve the warrant nobody would answer, police breached the door and a woman found inside told officers that a man was in the back of the trailer with access to a handgun, police said.

Officers went back outside and attempted to get the suspect to come out, according to police.

Police said negotiators couldn't get the man to respond.

Police said they tried getting response from the suspect by using less lethal force, such as flash-bangs and chemical munitions.

Police said they saw the man slumped over inside of a room. 

Officers and medics went into the trailer and discovered the man was dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to police.

The standoff ended around 8:15 p.m.
