Two men are in custody after a nearly two-hour standoff at a Tulsa apartment complex Tuesday. John Alexander is in the Tulsa County Jail, facing several charges including resisting arrest and possession of a stolen vehicle.
The other man involved hasn't been booked in yet.
The standoff started around 10:30 a.m. November 12 when troopers said a suspect driving a stolen truck ditched the vehicle, and two men broke into the apartments near 17th and Memorial.
Oklahoma Highway troopers said they were chasing a truck that had been reported stolen, and the driver did not pull over. They asked for TPD's help in the chase, troopers said.
The agencies surrounded the complex trying to persuade the suspect to come out and surrender.
Two men came out just before 12:30 p.m. The second man was taken to the hospital to be treated for an old injury before being taken to jail. No one was injured in the standoff, authorities said.
Norva Cullom said she's lived at the Autumn Ridge apartment complex for four years. When she walked out of her apartment Tuesday and saw lots of police cars, she stuck around to see what happened.
"It was exciting," she said, "but this is not what I want as excitement."
Lt. Vern Wilson, OHP, said the men don't live at the complex.
"They kicked several doors trying to make entry into the apartments, and finally they found one with an open window," he said.
