Tulsa LGBTQ advocates are making their voices heard about the Supreme Court's decision to allow the Trump administration to move forward with plans that ban certain transgender people from serving in the military.

Federal courts ruled the original ban was unconstitutional. The case is still pending in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the Supreme Court will not weigh in on the constitutionality of the ban itself until after that ruling. Leaders at the Dennis R. Neill Tulsa's Equality Center say Tuesday’s ruling feels like a slap in the face.
"I hope that the lower courts will see that this is just discriminatory legislation that will not have a great effect on the United States military but will have a great effect on the trans community in the United States," said Alex Wade with the Equality Center.
That updated policy bars the service of transgender people who seek or have undergone gender transition steps.
