The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 13 people were injured, including six children, when a car hit a 2007 Chevy bus that failed to stop at a LeFlore County intersection Thursday evening.
The crash happened just after 7 p.m. on Highway 83 about a mile south of Poteau.
Troopers said the bus driver and her nine passengers were taken to hospitals in Poteau and Tulsa.
The OHP says a 7-year old girl is in a Tulsa hospital in serious condition. The over five children, ages 1, 8,10,11 and 12 were all treated and released from a Poteau hospital. The driver of the bus, Aurora Baeza De Aguilar, 53, of Poteau was also treated and released.
The children and the three adult passengers were all from Heavener.
Troopers said the bus was headed east on a county road when it failed to stop and turned left onto Highway 83. The northbound 2002 Ford Focus struck the bus causing both vehicles to run off the road into a ditch.
The OHP says the car driven by 61-year-old Caren Edwards of Poteau and a passenger, 63-year-old Ronald Edwards were also to taken the hospital in Poteau. Both were treated and released.
