The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the tow truck driver who died in a crash along the Turner Turnpike Monday morning between Sapulpa and Kellyville.
Multiple agencies, including the OHP, were on the scene for several hours.
Troopers say 31-year-old Michael White, of Bernice, was westbound on the turnpike at 4:50 a.m. when his truck ran off the right side of the road and hit the barrier wall. The truck then crossed the westbound lanes and hit the other barrier wall, then crossed the westbound lanes again, rolling over and coming to rest in a ditch that was full of water, according to the OHP.
The OHP said White was ejected from the truck so they had to call in a special recovery crew which used a boat to find his body.
Clifford McMullen said he heard the crash from his house, which is about a half-mile from the turnpike.
"It shook the house and we woke up. We looked around but couldn't see. Had no idea this had happened," said McMullen.
Neighbors said this is the second semi accident they've seen here in the past few weeks.
