Family and friends welcome their military heroes home from Afghanistan Thursday.
The soldiers flew into Tulsa International Airport after spending 10 months in Afghanistan.
One soldier said she took a deep breath before walking through the doors of the airport, but she couldn't hold back the emotions when she saw everyone waiting.
First Lieutenant Megan Putze is a member of the U.S. Army. She said she was stationed in Kabul, where she worked with Afghan Security Forces.
Putze said they performed protection missions and made sure the area stayed safe.
She said after being away for so long, seeing her family and her two dogs felt really good.
"Words cannot describe. It's so exciting seeing my family. I'm just missing my husband. He just deployed over there last month, so he's got eight months ahead prior to me coming home," Putze said.
Putze said she's going to first make a stop to eat a Cheddar's, and she soon plans to go on a trip across the west coast.
