Arrowhead Seeker Rescued From Arkansas River In Sand Springs

Sand Springs firefighters rescued a man from the Arkansas River Wednesday afternoon after he became stranded by the current.

The man told firefighters he went out on the river looking for arrowheads. He had markers in the water to keep track of the water level and started to walk to shore after seeing the water had risen, SSFD said.

He realized the current was moving too swiftly for him to cross safely on foot, so he retreated to an island and called for help. The fire department quickly got him in an inflatable boat and back to shore.
