Jury selection continues Tuesday in the trial of a Tulsa man accused of killing another man during a high-speed chase in 2017.

Jerry Newman, 25, is charged with first-degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

He is accused of stealing a utility truck in Sapulpa and leading police on a high-speed chase through school zones, construction zones and onto a runway at Tulsa International Airport on May 24th, 2017.

Police say Newman eventually drove the wrong way on Highway 75, north of Tulsa, where he slammed head-on with a car, killing William Bruckman.  Bruckman left behind a wife and three children.

Even after the crash, police say Newman kept on driving.  Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers finally stopped and arrested him in the 10800 block of East 33rd Place in Tulsa.

Newman's attorney argued during previous court hearings, there's no proof his client was in the stolen truck. Tulsa County prosecutors say they have plenty of evidence to show Jerry Newman was behind the wheel.
