Broken Arrow Chef Wins National Recipe Contest

A Broken Arrow man has won a national recipe contest with his Sea Salt Caramel Bacon Pecan Pie.

Chef and food truck owner Bryan Bennett was one of five winners and on Wednesday he received his prize, a check for $5,000.

Bennett is the South Central winner of the General Mills Neighborhood to Nation Recipe Contest.

He says his winning recipe is a variation of one he created for last year’s Tulsa State Fair.

“That was our deep fried, bacon-wrapped sea salt caramel pecan pie,” he said.

Using Pillsbury pie crust rounds, Bennett has created a kind of pecan pie sandwich.

Bennett also won $1,000 for a charity of his choice.  He selected Soldier’s Wish.
