A driver is in critical condition after crashing into an Oklahoma Department of Transportation truck that was parked on I-244 just west of the Tulsa County Jail.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 19-year-old Michael Taylor was northbound when his 2006 Chrysler 300 struck an unoccupied ODOT barrier truck being used to protect a damaged guardrail at the Highway 75/412 split.
The crash shut down several lanes of the IDL for over two and a half hours.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said after the car crashed the driver got out and ran. EMSA found him collapsed near the Tulsa County Jail and took him to the hospital.
At the same place on Thursday, June 28th, 2018, a tanker crashed in the same spot and damaged the metal guardrails. ODOT parked a temporary truck there to signal to drivers where the concrete median is so they don't hit it.

So, when the car hit the ODOT truck this morning, chemicals spilled down the road. I-244 eastbound was closed temporarily while crews worked to clean the battery acid and oil.
All lanes of traffic are back open now.
ODOT parked a new truck right where the old one was to block the median damage.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
