As Tulsa Tough continues through Sunday and a lot of spectators will be joining in the fun at Cry Baby Hill, EMSA is reminding people to be aware of the heat.

EMSA says crews responded to a dozen heat-related calls in the Tulsa area on Saturday.

They are urging people to stay hydrated and to take water or other fluids with you if you’re heading outside.

EMSA is giving other tips to people to stay healthy in the heat:

  • drink plenty of water or electrolyte replacement drinks several hours prior to and during long exposure to the summer heat;
  • wear light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and a wide brimmed hat if working outdoors and take plenty of shade breaks;
  • avoid alcohol or caffeine; and
  • keep a cell phone on you at all times when outdoors, including walking, doing daily errands, yard work, or sports and physical activity.
