Tulsa McClure Elementary Students, Teachers 'Blast Into Summer'

The last day of class for Tulsa students isn't until Thursday, May 31st, but some students and teachers at one elementary school are already welcoming summer break.

On Tuesday, families gathered at McClure Elementary to say goodbye to the spring semester and "Blast into Summer."

In addition to the food and games, school leaders encouraged parents to stay politically active.

"We want our family community to be active voters, especially after the recent political climate and the teacher walkout. We want our community to be able to advocate for their childrens' needs," said McClure Principal Katy Jimenez.

School leaders say Tuesday evening's event was a way to stay connected with families after a challenging year.
