The true synoptic cold front is just now moving southeast into northern Oklahoma early this morning and will move into southeastern Oklahoma during the next few early morning hours.  A narrow line of showers and storms will attempt to develop with this feature, including a small chance for a few strong storms, according to objective analysis of certain parameters, mainly across far southeastern Oklahoma.   This boundary will be southeast of the metro by 5 am and across far southeastern Oklahoma shortly after sunrise.  Some of our neighbors to the south may experience thunderstorm activity for the morning hours but should quickly sink into far southeastern Oklahoma and north Texas for the rest of the day.

WARN Interactive Radar

North winds will usher dry air across our region allowing for pleasant weather into the weekend.  Temps will be cool this morning with 50s across northeast Oklahoma along with highs in the mid-70s this afternoon along with partly sunny conditions.  The clouds should stick around for the better part of the morning hours before thinning and moving out by early afternoon.  Tonight looks great for outdoor activities.   Temps this weekend will be rather pleasant with lows in the 50s and highs in the lower 80s.

The upper air pattern will transition to a weak northwest flow pattern that will bring another weak boundary into at least southern Kansas late Sunday night into Monday morning with the chance for a few showers or storms.  The GFS has been very consistent in this feature while the more reliable EURO keeps this precip chance rather low and mostly north.  I’ll give the nod to the EURO but will keep the low pop mention for this period that was added last night.

Later next week another system should be nearing the region around midweek and then possibly next weekend with additional shower and thunderstorm chances.

Thanks for reading the Friday morning weather discussion and blog.
