Today marks one year since severe flooding swept through the small Haskell County town of Kinta.
The water destroyed the town's only gas station and closed the post office for several weeks. According to the Haskell and Pittsburg country emergency management, the heavy rains flooded main street damaging 40 homes and businesses and closing the town's only two restaurants.
Emergency crews rescued nearly 30 people overnight Though some abandoned their property, others started over and rebuilt. A new gas station opened last fall.
