The Oklahoma Highway Patrol has reopened all westbound lanes of I-44 near the Arkansas River after a semi truck's trailer carrying chocolate caught on fire late Thursday.

Troopers and the Tulsa Fire Department got the call just after 10:30 p.m.

The OHP says they believe the refrigeration unit caught fire, leading to the closure of the highway's westbound lanes.  Firefighters worked to put out the fire and crews were called to help clean up the mess in front of the Jim Glover dealership.

News On 6 talked with a driver who was passing by and saw the semi trailer burning.

"I started to make my way around it, very far around it because I didn't know if it was gonna burst into flames or what," said witness George Ward.

Troopers reopened all lanes of westbound Interstate 44 just after 2:15 a.m. Friday.

The OHP says the driver of the truck was not hurt.
