This year’s Tulsa Designer Showcase home is finished.
The fish in the aquarium are about to receive a bunch of visitors. Paula Dellavadova with the Foundation for Tulsa Schools says the Showcase is a great way for people to enjoy one of Tulsa's great older homes.
"It's older than Mayfest and Oktoberfest,” says Dellavedova. This year 23 designers have had a hand in it. "Every area has a designer even a closet."
One designer, Michael Beard got to re-imagine the study area. He said the ceiling light and the furnishings in the room were a fairly easy decision but for the bookshelves, he used National Geographic Magazines...
“There are National Geographic’s here from 1973 to 2003. Every shelf has a year, and it's all consecutively done," According to Beard. What he likes most about this year's showcase, he said, every room seems to fit the house and the family who actually lives here, from the kid’s rooms to the furnished basement.
So, buy a ticket, spend some time, accumulate some great design ideas and the money goes back to Tulsa Public Schools. Get ready fish, here we come.
The home is open to the public beginning Friday.
