Tulsa Police say a man was hit on the head with a handgun during an attempted robbery Wednesday morning. Officers said it happened near East Admiral Place and North Harvard Avenue.
Two men met at the QuikTrip at 8105 East 21st Street, and the victim was giving the suspect a ride home, according to police. When they got to 100 North College Avenue, the man getting a ride pulled a handgun and tried to get the driver's keys and wallet.
The two men fought, and the robber ran off after hitting the victim with the gun. Police say the injured man tried to follow the other but couldn't find him. The victim then drove to the QT at 2749 East Admiral Place and called police at 1:45 a.m. April 18.
The suspect is described as a white male, around 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was dressed all in black - a black baseball cap, black shirt and black backpack. Police set up a perimeter around the area of East Admiral and North Harvard Avenue, but the suspect was already gone.
The victim was treated by EMSA at the QuikTrip but "ultimately refused medical treatment," police said.
