News On 6 joined some Tulsa Public School teachers on a bus to a rally at the state Capitol in Oklahoma City.
The district said 220 TPS teachers took buses to Oklahoma City. On one of those buses was TPS Superintendent Dr. Deborah Gist. She told News On 6 the teacher walkout was never the goal.
Dr. Gist says teachers would rather be in class, but the funding bill approved by the legislature and signed into law by the governor last week is not enough.
