A man is dead and two police officers are on administrative leave after an officer-involved shooting in Mannford Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting happened near the corner of Greenwood and Greenbriar Circle around 2:30 p.m. when, officers say, a man came at them with a large knife.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation and has identified the suspect as Mark Allen Lunn.  Court records show he's no stranger to law enforcement agencies across the state.

According to OSBI, Lunn went to the area to look at a car a woman was selling.  She said he made her uncomfortable and she called police.

Officers say when they arrived Lunn ran.

Police followed Lunn and said he wasn't cooperative.

They said he pulled a large knife and made a move toward the officers.  That is when they fired.

"At some point, he pulled out a large knife, and at some point in the confrontation, he made a move at one of the officers, so they both fired," said OSBI Special Agent Marty Wilson.

Lunn died at the scene.

Court records show Lunn has a lengthy criminal history in Oklahoma.  He previously served time in Payne County and in Osage County for aggravated assault of an officer.

Mannford Police Department says Lunn was also involved in a brief standoff Tuesday night after he assaulted a woman in Mannford.  Police say that woman is okay.

After today's shooting, people in the quiet Mannford neighborhood are trying to figure out where to go from here.

Mannford resident Kwame Thomas says it's rare to see something like this in that area.

"I could only think who got shot and for what reason," said Thomas, who is a former police officer.  "I mean, most of the cops here are friendly, but if you push a cop to their limit, they have to use force."

OSBI agents are continuing to interview people in the area and, once their investigation is complete, they will hand it over to the district attorney.
