Oklahoma lawmakers say they're still working to come up with a plan to avoid the teacher walkout which is set to happen in 19 days.

However, House Majority leader Jon Echols believes the legislature won't be able to meet teacher demands this year.

"We've had plans that could've funded a $5,000 teacher pay raise and a $67 million state employee pay raise this year and I think those are more realistic goals for what we're going to try and accomplish this year," said Echols.

Democrats say they're on board with teachers' demands.

Republicans, however, say they won't be passing any new revenue-raising measures. Instead, they're working on ways to find money from other state funds

Echols suggested putting the Step Up Oklahoma plan back on the table, even though lawmakers failed to pass it earlier this year.
