Tulsa firefighters were called to a fire at a home day care.

The fire happened around 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, March 13, 2018 a couple blocks southwest of Pine and MLK.

Smoke was showing over the treeline, but firefighters quickly knocked the fire down. Firefighters said the fire started in the kitchen and spread to the attic.

The home does not have a business sign outside, but people in the area told us it is a home day care.

Firefighters said no one was inside when the fire started. No one was injured.

Fire equipment operator, Mike Rodriguez said, "There's smoke damage throughout the building. We kept the fire mostly contained to two rooms, a little bit of damage to the ceiling, but it's gonna be a while before it's up and running again."

A DHS worker showed up but didn't give any information.

The department's public records show the day care received several violations since 2016.

Firefighters are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
