A large grass fire off Highway 51 and 265th West Avenue threatened businesses near Sand Springs Sunday afternoon.
Firefighters said embers from a burn barrel, high winds, and the dry weather conditions all contributed to the start of the fire.
Crews said someone was burning trash around 1:30 p.m. when an ember caught wind and landed on an abandoned car.
Captain Travis Hurlebusch with the Keystone Volunteer Fire department said the fire then spread to several abandoned vehicles and threatened several abandoned campers and a storage unit.
It took crews just over 3 hours to get the fire out. Firefighters said the fire burned about 15 acres.
"We don't want any problems with our gas station or with any of our businesses or with any structures, so we went around and spent probably an hour and a half mopping up hotspots making sure everything is completely out," said Hurlebusch.
Firefighters said no buildings were damaged and no one was hurt.
