Several reports are out saying OSU football coach Mike Gundy is in talks with representatives from the University of Tennessee.

Gundy’s name associated with openings at other schools has almost become an annual thing, and Tennessee appears to be doing everything it can to lure him out of Stillwater.

Various sources confirmed Gundy is believed to have met with Tennessee officials in Dallas Tuesday with no decision expected today.

Longtime Cowboys' sideline reporter Robert Allen tweeted Tuesday morning that he believes Gundy's discussions with the Volunteers are serious.

Social media lit up with fans and people connected to both OSU and Tennessee expressing opinions about whether the discussions are serious.

Gundy was scheduled to already be in Dallas Tuesday recruiting.

Tennessee made a play for Gundy five years ago before hiring Butch Jones, who was fired earlier this month.

Former OSU coach Pat Jones told sports radio listeners Monday that Florida offered Gundy its job but that Gundy turned it down.

Tennessee is scrambling to save face after a social media meltdown from fans when word leaked Sunday that the school was about to hire Ohio State defensive coordinator Greg Schiano, and Tennessee athletic director John Currie, who used to be at Kansas State, is feeling the heat over that move.

The question is would Gundy leave?

If reports of Tennessee willing to perhaps double Gundy’s $4.2 million a year are true then i‎t could happen.

But then there’s the current climate in Knoxville, and the fact that Currie is feeling the heat. Those close to Kansas State will say Currie did not have a good relationship with Bill Snyder or former basketball coach Frank Martin while he was the A.D. in Manhattan, and that would go into any decision Gundy makes.

The University of Tennessee's airplane was scheduled to depart Knoxville for Stillwater at 12:51 p.m. but the departure time was moved back several times. Now, according to flightaware.com, that plane is not available for tracking.

Gundy also reportedly met with representatives from Baylor University last December.

Gundy, 50, has been the head coach at his alma mater since 2005 and has an overall head coaching record of 113-53.

The Cowboys finished the regular season 9-3 and wait to see which bowl game they'll play in.
