The City of Tulsa is holding a special household pollutant disposal event.

In addition to regularly accepted items – flammable liquids, cooking oil, thermostats, etc. – special items like tires, ammunition and medications will also be accepted.

The event is open to Tulsa residents and M.e.t. member communities. No appointment is needed.

The event takes place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the City of Tulsa’s Household Pollutant Collection Facility at 4502 South Galveston Avenue.

Anyone that drops off a mercury thermostat will receive a $10 Lowe’s gift card. Anyone who disposes of household pollutants will get to shop at the Swap Shop.

Accepted Items:

  • Fluorescent and CFL light bulbs
  • Oil based paints and thinner
  • Flammable liquids
  • Automotive fluids
  • Cooking oil/grease
  • Aerosols
  • Household and car batteries
  • Household cleaners
  • Pool chemicals
  • Small electronics
  • Thermostats

Non-Accepted Items:

  • Industrial or commercial waste
  • Latex paint
  • Medical or biomedical waste (no syringes, needles)
  • Asbestos
  • Food or organic waste
  • Radioactive material

Special Event Accepted Items:

  • Tires
  • E-waste (Tube televisions will have a $21 fee; monitors will have a $10 fee.)
  • Ammunition
  • Medications
