A Eufaula man's killer is still out there, but police say they are closing in.

Officers with the District 25 Violent Crimes Task Force said they have put in more than 300 hours of manpower and interviewed more than 30 people in the search for Damion Martin’s killer.

As officers continue to investigate, the Martin family is getting ready to lay Damion to rest.
It's been 8 days since Destiny Martin was told the body found in Eufaula on September 27th was her 21-year-old twin brother Damion.

"Who wanna make people's family hurt?" she said.

Damion disappeared September 21st.

His family feared the worst but kept searching.

Officers worked 12-hour shifts until his body was found.

"Only thing we got now is memories," Destiny said.

For Destiny, those memories are of her brother's sense of humor, his selfless heart, and the way he called his family every day to make sure everyone was doing okay.

"He was the baby boy. He was loving. He always made everybody laugh …. It was a bond that can never be broken." She said.

Destiny said she's thankful for everyone who helped find Damion.

"I thank them so much because we get to lay him down and we can always go talk to him at his grave site." She said.

Now task force officers are working overtime trying to find Damion's killer.

Eufaula Police Chief Don Murray said he hopes to have a suspect in custody by the end of next week.

"There is no doubt in my mind that this case will be solved and somebody will go to prison." He said.

"For them, to the people that did that. I can't hold the hatred in my heart so I am going to forgive them, because you know what, they the ones that gonna have to answer to that man up above." Destiny said.
