The rain Wednesday didn't stop Hoover Elementary students in Tulsa from taking part in National Walk to School Day.
"I’m looking forward to stomping in puddles,” first-grader Alyosha Peterson said.
Walk to School Day raises awareness about crosswalk safety in school zones.
Some students carried signs that said "Look Both Ways Before Crossing.”
“They’re trying to help kids so that they don’t just, like, walk into the street and get hit by a car - so that they watch for cars,” said Braddox, a third-grader.
Some schools did cancel their walk-to-school events because of the rain.
