The much-advertised cold front is moving southward this morning and will soon cross part the area with north winds and gently falling temps along and northwest of I-44 with another relatively warm day expected again for our friends and neighbors across far east-central and southeastern sections of the state.

Some spots across northwestern to central Oklahoma region will be in the 60s today with clouds and rain while some locations across far eastern Oklahoma will totally miss out on the precip both today and tomorrow.   Regarding our part of the state, locations near and northwest of the metro will have the best chance both today and tomorrow for some showers and storms but the positioning of the main upper level trough relative to the front may keep far southeastern and east central Oklahoma in the low chance category.

And any precip that will fall across eastern sections should be in the range from .20 to .70 for a two-day total with locations across western and southwestern Oklahoma seeing amounts nearing 3 to 5 inches.   The active weather pattern will also continue Wednesday into pre-dawn Thursday before the precip chances start to shut-down.  The 2nd system for later this weekend into early next week now appears unlikely but we’ll keep those chances very low for the Monday period.  And I must be the deliverer of not so good news as the pattern may bring more warm air back into the area early next week.   So, this little taste of fall weather will not stick around.

Temps today will be hard to get exactly right for the metro as we’ll be right on the bubble of some cooler air to the northwest and much warmer air to the southeast. We’ve elected to stick with a high from 78 for the metro with locations to the northwest in the lower 70s and locations to the southeast in the mid to 80s. The metro temps-northwest may even be cooler depending upon the exact location of the showers.  North winds are likely from 10 to 15 mph today as the boundary passes your area.

Wednesday morning lows will be in the upper 50s to near 62 with highs in the lower 70s along with cloudy conditions and some scattered showers. The chance Wednesday must also remain low for far eastern and southeastern Oklahoma with a 50-60 shot for the metro west. Thursday morning should see lows in the lower to mid-50s with highs in the lower to mid-70s along with north winds and mostly cloudy sky.

This may linger into Friday but with decreasing clouds and slightly warmer air by the afternoon.  This weekend south winds will return with a return of warmer air.  Lows will start in the 50s but daytime highs will be nearing 80 Saturday and the lower 80s Sunday.  The warm and breezy conditions return early next week with highs back into the mid and upper 80s. Ugh.

Thanks for reading the Tuesday morning weather discussion and blog.
