We are waiting on a cold front to arrive and bring rain chances along with cooler air to eastern Oklahoma.
Higher chances for rain and thunderstorms remain near and west of the area today. Our only chance at rain will be if spotty showers develop.
It will slowly move eastward crossing I-35 tonight. In the morning, most of the rain will be from I-44 to the north. Rain will slowly spread more southeast during the day, but most of the showers will remain near the I-44 corridor.
Rain becomes more widespread on Wednesday and scattered. Severe weather is not expected with this system.
Unfortunately, some locations across eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas will not receive any precipitation from this front. And this system doesn’t appear to be a big rain maker for eastern Oklahoma with higher totals across central to western sections of the state. Locations that do manage to experience rainfall across eastern Oklahoma will not have much. Less than an inch expected with the higher amounts west and northwest of Tulsa.
Temps will remain warm today with highs in the upper 80s near 90 along with south winds around 10 to 15 mph. Local dew point temps will remain in the upper 60s supporting slightly muggy weather for some folks but a lot better than last week. As the front moves southeast slowly Tuesday night into Wednesday temps will begin dropping with morning lows Wednesday in the 60s and afternoon highs in the lower to mid-70s. The north winds will remain Tuesday afternoon through the end of the week with a more appreciated cool-down Thursday and Friday morning with lows in the 50s to lower 60s and highs in the mid-70s.
Slight warm up by the end of the weekend with a return to southerly winds.
