An Air Force veteran was finally laid to rest in Claremore, more than 50 years after he disappeared during the Vietnam War.

Colonel Martin Scott was listed as missing in action after his plane was shot down.

Thanks to a DNA match, Scott's family got the chance to give him a proper burial.

"It was a surprise when they called him and told him they had their dad after 51 years. He didn’t believe the phone call at first until the Air Force showed up at his door,” said family friend, Mike Morgan.

Scott's sons received an American flag as five jets flew over the service in the missing man formation.

The fallen soldier was buried next to his wife at Woodlawn Cemetery.
