Country music legend George Strait will take the stage at the BOK Center June 2 of next year for “Strait Down Route 66.”
The concert is the first show announced for BOK’s “10 for 10” concert series in 2018, a planned celebration that will feature ten artists commemorating the arena’s tenth anniversary.
Tickets go on sale September 29 at 10 a.m. and will be available on BOK's website, www.straitdownroute66.com or by calling 1-866-7-BOKCTR.
In 2012, Strait shocked fans when he announced he was retiring from touring at the end of "The Cowboy Rides Away Tour."
Since then, he’s played only a handful of shows including the highly acclaimed, sold-out residency at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena this year and most recently a Hurricane Harvey relief benefit at San Antonio’s Majestic Theatre that helped raise millions of dollars for individuals affected by the storms in Texas.
“Strait Down Route 66” at BOK Center will be one of Strait’s rare live performances and one of just two arena shows planned.
“George Strait is one of our most requested artists year after year,” said BOK Center general manager Jeff Nickler. “Even though he is not touring, SMG wanted to go big for our ten-year celebration and Strait is as big as it gets on the country stage.”
