It’s week three of the high school football season.
Typically, this week means one more game before the all-important district games begin.
Our game of the week is top 10 in 4A Metro Christian against top 10 in 2A Holland Hall.
Metro is 1-1 record, number seven in class 4A
And the Patriots beat the Dutch 37-7 last year, but it's a different crew from the senior-laden team last year.
And they're aware Holland Hall's much better than last year.
Jared McCoy, Metro Christian’s Head Coach said, “Yeah they're really good up front. Defensively, their secondary is rock solid. They haven't hardly allowed anything. They grind you offensively, don't make very many mistakes, while they're pounding the ball on the run game, they can hit you over the top. They've got a quarterback who can deliver the ball, and their receivers are real dynamic."
The Dutch are 3-0, and ranked fourth in class 2A, in just their second year in the OSSAA.
The Holland Hall defense has been stout, giving up just 11 points a game in wins over Casady, Cascia Hall, and Lincoln Christian.
They'll face a tough test tonight against a Metro Christian offense averaging 30 points a game.
Tag Gross, Holland Hall’s Head Coach said Metro Christian is "Very skilled in wide receivers and quarterbacks are going to screen us and throw the ball down the field. And then defensively they like to bring a lot of pressure. So, it's going to be a challenge. We've got a young quarterback, and it's going to be a challenge for him."
