Our hearts are broken here at News On 6 because of the sudden loss of a member of our family.
Josh Gilmore was found dead on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017. We knew something was wrong when he didn't show up for work. Our hearts go out to his family.
Josh joined News On 6 10 years ago as a master control operator. It's a tough job. Master control operators are the people who make sure everything airs when it's supposed to, including commercials, newscasts and any other program we put on television.
By the nature of their work, master control operators deal with every other department in the building and have to be expert multi-taskers. Josh made it look easy. He also made it fun.
Josh was always smiling and cracking jokes, whether he was educating a tour as it passed through his department, grabbing a soda in the breakroom or using the radio to tune in a live shot from Osage SkyNews 6 HD.
Josh loved his job and he loved News On 6, but he loved his coworkers even more. We'll miss his professionalism and his skill, but mostly we'll miss his infectious grin.
Rest in peace, Josh.
