The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says a 14-year-old jet ski passenger was injured on Lake Tenkiller in Cherokee County Sunday afternoon.

Troopers said the incident happened in the Horseshoe Bend area of the lake just before 5 p.m.

The OHP report states a juvenile from Davis, Oklahoma fell off a 1996 Polaris jet ski when its operator, Cody Winsett, 24, of Davis attempted to cause a wake ahead of a second jet ski. After falling off, the teen was then struck by the other jet ski, a 1997 Kawasaki Waverunner operated by James Hall, 26, also of Davis.

The juvenile was taken to a hospital in Tahlequah where he was treated and released.

The OHP report says the injury was caused by "careless operation" of a water craft.
