Hundreds of airlines passengers were stranded over the weekend in Houston thanks to Hurricane Harvey. One of those at Houston's Hobby Airport was a Tulsa man who finally made it home late Sunday.
Russ Knight says he and his wife took a trip for their 20th anniversary, a trip they'll never forget. They flew from Charleston, South Carolina into Houston, knowing that Harvey had already made landfall but not knowing the full impact.
They planned on being able to drive a rental car back to Tulsa once they landed, but Russ says the streets were flooded and reports say the runways at Hobby Airport were also flooded.
Russ Knight and his wife spent Saturday stranded with nearly 500 other passengers whose flights were grounded because of the hurricane.
"Nobody was just getting upset or freaking out or trying to go yell at the airline employees, everybody understood this is all beyond the control of anybody that we could see," said Russ Knight.
Russ says humanitarian flights became available for the passengers and they made it home by 11:30 p.m. Sunday.
