The victim’s family say they’re angry.
Police say when Koaten shot Laura Hendrix, he came here to Vinita police department. Inside he asked for a hug and told an employee inside that he had killed his step mom.
His step mom was 38-year-old Laura Hendrix, Orr and his dad had been living with her at her home in Vinita.
Police say Hendrix and Orr were the only people at home during the shooting.
Initially, Orr told police he shot Hendrix because he'd been molested, but the family says since then Orr has backtracked on that allegation.
They believe he shot her because he was a stickler for the rules.
Also, before the shooting, the family said Orr had been getting anger management counseling and think he may have killed her out of anger.
Hendrix father says this past year has been tough on the family and they've had to really lean on each other to get through it.
"I don't feel by any means like I'm the one doing the most suffering. I feel like Samantha is probably suffering the most she lost her mom at 17 and gets to go the rest of her life without her. And that's the biggest thing to live with for me." Said Hendrix’s father.
