Hundreds of homeless pets now have forever homes in Green Country.
Sunday, shelters adopted out dogs and cats for a discount adoption fee.
The event, Clear the Shelter, is part of a nationwide initiative.
Every year, thousands of animals are euthanized because there's just not enough room for them in shelters.
Shelter representatives say events like this help save lives.
"Some of them really seem to know that they've been saved. And these are animals that have been failed some way by humans," said Jean Letcher of Tulsa Animal Welfare.
Area shelter workers urge everyone to get their pets spayed or neutered to help cut down on crowded shelters.
