Troopers say a woman and boy died in a wreck on Highway 72 north of Haskell Monday.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identifies the dead as Krystal Miller, 32, and a 4-year-old boy, both of Coweta.
Troopers say Miller was driving a 2017 Chevy Sonic with the boy as a passenger just after 12 p.m. when the car collided with a 2016 Dodge Journey SUV driven by Margaret Hyeche, 54, of Coweta
Both Hyeche and her passenger, Joyce Cade, were taken to a Tulsa hospital. They were both using seat belts, the OHP said.
Troopers said neither Miller nor the boy was using a seat belt.
News On 6 storm tracker Darren Stephens witnessed the wreck. He said he and two other men stopped and freed one of the women from the red SUV. She and her passenger's injuries weren't life threatening, Stephens said.
Stephens said he and the other men called 911 then performed CPR on Miller and the boy but it was too late.
The driver of the van told Stephens the black car crossed the center line and hit them head on.
The OHP said the cause of the crash is still under investigation. Troopers said the women in the Sonic were wearing seat belts but Krystal and the child were not.
