Tulsa Police have identified a man who is Tulsa's 33rd homicide victim of 2017 and made an arrest in his murder.
Police said Rabson Robert, 36, was shot Friday night, June 2 at America's Value Inn on 11th Street near Highway 169. Police were called to the motel in the 10100 block of East 11th Street and found Robert. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Late Saturday night, officers arrested Tulio "Alex" Aviles for first-degree murder in Robert's death. An arrest report states Aviles was in the motel room when Robert and another person got into an argument outside.
A witness told officers Aviles pulled his shirt up exposing a large revolver, then went outside.
"Moments later the witness heard a single gunshot" and tires squealing, the arresting officer said. Another witness told police they saw Aviles' car leave the scene at a high rate of speed with its lights off.

The arrest report states a detective interviewed Aviles' wife who said her husband told her he pulled his revolver out to frighten Robert, pulled the hammer back and "the gun just went off."
Shortly after the motel shooting Friday, a police officer shot and killed a man now identified as Naway Willy. Police said they made contact with Willy because he matched the description of the suspect in the motel shooting.
Police said when officers tried to question Willy, he ran from them, pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at officers. Sergeant Dave Walker said Sunday that he does not believe Willy is a suspect in Robert's death.
Tulsa Police have not released the name of the officer who shot Willy. A news release stated police will not be releasing any additional information until Monday.
