The Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals denied the appeal Thursday of a Tulsa man convicted of two 2014 murders.

Isaac Ashton was sentenced last year to two life sentences without parole for the murders of Verdell Walker and Tiara Sawyer.

The two were found shot to death at a midtown Tulsa apartment complex. The murders were the first Tulsa cases featured on the A&E crime show ‘First 48.’

According to online court records, Ashton's appeal contended he was denied his constitutional rights to present a complete defense, that "prosecutorial misconduct" deprived him of a fair trial, that he was denied a fair trial and he also challenged the effectiveness of his counsel at trial.

The judge in the appeal case affirmed Ashton's sentences and denied his appeal.
