A fugitive is back in custody and awaiting extradition to Oklahoma from California after he walked away from a work crew in McAlester on Wednesday, May 24. 

Rhodrick Walden was a part of a work crew from the Jackie Brannon Correctional Center in McAlester when he walked away.

Walden arrested May 26 in Santa Ana, California, after the U.S. Marshal's Metro Fugitive Task Force in Oklahoma City received a tip about Walden's location. 

Walden's capture came just a few hours after he was featured on DOC social media. 

Oklahoma law enforcement coordinated with the U.S. Marshal's Service Task Force in Los Angeles to capture Walden, according to a DOC news release. 

Once extradited, Walden faces a charge of fugitive from justice, according to the DOC.
