19-Year-Old Peggs Man Critically Injured In ATV Wreck

A 19-year-old Peggs man is in critical condition following an ATV wreck early Sunday morning. Oklahoma Highway Patrol reports Tyler Mitchell was driving a Yamaha Raptor four-wheeler just before 1 a.m. on 490 Road about 11 miles north of Tahlequah.

Troopers say Mitchell was northbound when he lost control on a curve and left the gravel roadway. He struck an embankment, and the Raptor rolled one time, a collision report states.

He was flown to a Tulsa hospital with head and other injuries. OHP said he was in apparently normal condition before the wreck. The cause of the crash is listed as unsafe speed for the gravel roadway.

He wasn't wearing a helmet, the collision report states.
