Rogers County Sheriff's Office arrested a woman after she brought her 1-year-old nephew to the Claremore Hospital in critical condition from a near drowning.

Amanda Brooke Green, 33, was under the influence of prescription drugs when the child was in her care, according to a probable cause affidavit.

Court records show Green and another woman took the boy to the hospital around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017. Hospital workers called the sheriff's office after they said Green was uncooperative while being questioned.

During their investigation, authorities learned the boy had spent the night at Green's house in the 25000 block of South 4170 Road.

Green told investigators that she saw the boy fall into the pool and immediately rescued him from the water, but he was unresponsive. The affidavit states Green had slurred speech and was lethargic and seemed to have no concept of time during their interview which took place 10 hours after the near drowning.

They said she produced a bottle of Xanax which had been filled on May 23, 2017, for 60 pills; however, there were only 14 pills in the bottle. Thirteen more pills were located at her home, and her husband said he hid them from her to keep her from abusing the pills, according to deputies.

That left 33 Xanax unaccounted for, the affidavit notes.

Records show medical staff told investigators the 1-year-old boy had been underwater without air for a period of more than one minute. If he survives, he will most likely sustain permanent brain damage, the affidavit states. They also said they suspect Green was under the influence while at the hospital.

Amanda Brooke Green is in the Rogers County Jail accused of child neglect. Deputies said she was arrested on January 9, 2017, for driving under the influence of drugs and child endangerment as she had a juvenile in the car with her at the time of her arrest. At that time, records show she had four prescription pills with her in the car: Xanax, Tramadol, Soma and Fioricet.
