Water Line Breaks Impacts Tulsa Businesses, Homes

A number of Tulsa businesses just south of the Brookside area on South Peoria don't have water due to a water main break early Tuesday. 

The break in the 12-inch line occurred in the 4600 block of South Peoria and has led to the closure of the outside northbound lane.

The city hoped to have the break fixed by Tuesday afternoon but are now predicting 7 to 9 p.m.  

A city worker says 25 businesses and 10 homes on the east and west side of Peoria are out of water from South 49th to 45th Place because of the break. That includes restaurants, car washes, and animal hospital and an urgent care clinic.

Crews have been working on the break for several hours.The work created some traffic problems, especially in the morning rush hour.

The contractor for the road repairs will be on site Wednesday, News On 6 has learned. It will take at least three days to reopen the lanes of traffic - depending on weather.
